Martin Schindler shines at the European Darts Grand Prix by comfortably defeating Gian van Veen and showcasing a remarkable average of 108.82. As he sets his sights on a back-to-back victory, Schindler faces a tough challenge from Rob Cross in the next round.

Martin Schindler made an impressive start to his pursuit of back-to-back European Tour titles at the European Darts Grand Prix on Friday night. ‘The Wall’ comfortably defeated Gian van Veen 6-2 in the first round.

The opening stages of the match were tightly contested, with Schindler and Van Veen sharing the first four legs. However, the 27-year-old German then stepped up a gear, winning the next four legs in succession to secure the victory. Schindler showcased his exceptional form, posting an impressive average of 108.82 in the process.

“I’m so happy with that performance, but tomorrow is a different day,” stated Schindler, who will be aiming to clinch a second consecutive tournament triumph on the European Tour. The German now faces a tough challenge in the form of seventh-seeded Rob Cross in the second round.

“Rob is one of the best players in the world. He’s a Premier League participant, so like today, I’m going to be warned about what he’s capable of,” Schindler acknowledged. “I am just focused on my game, and if I’m able to play like I can, I might have a chance!”
