Veteran Japanese Darts Player Seigo Asada Dominates Japan Tour

Asada Secures Two Consecutive Titles in Opening Weekend

Veteran Japanese darts player Seigo Asada made a strong start to the inaugural Japan Tour, securing two consecutive titles in the opening weekend. The 44-year-old’s impressive performance has fueled his hopes of returning to the prestigious World Darts Championship later this year.

The newly established Japan Tour, designed to provide a pathway to the upcoming Darts World Cup, consists of 10 tournaments followed by a playoff featuring the top 32 players at the end of the season. In the first tournament, Asada emerged victorious after a thrilling last-leg shoot-out against Yoshihisa Baba.

“Asada’s dominance was interrupted in the third tournament, where Keita Ono emerged as the champion, with Mitsuhiko Tatsunami securing a whitewash victory over Taiyo Nishimata.”

Continuing his winning momentum, Asada extended his streak to 14 games in the second tournament, culminating in a convincing 4-1 triumph over Yuichiro Ogawa. However, Asada’s dominance was interrupted in the third tournament, where Keita Ono emerged as the champion, with Mitsuhiko Tatsunami securing a whitewash victory over Taiyo Nishimata.

Noteworthy Performances in the Japan Tour

The fourth tournament saw Jun Matsuda, who represented Japan at last year’s World Cup of Darts, close the weekend with a flourish, securing four consecutive legs to defeat Shogo Fuse. Notably, during this tournament, Yuya Higuchi achieved a remarkable feat, throwing a nine-darter during his second-round match against Takayuki Masatsu.

The Japan Tour is set to continue over two more weekends in July and September, with the top 32 players vying for a coveted spot at the World Darts Championships.
