In a surprising turn of events, two-time World Darts Championship winners Gary Anderson and Luke Humphries have withdrawn from this weekend’s Austrian Darts Open in Graz due to personal reasons, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) has announced.

Anderson, who just last weekend secured the European Darts Grand Prix title in Sindelfingen, and Humphries, the recent champion of the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich, have already secured their spots in the European Darts Championship later this year, affording them the opportunity to skip this European Tour tournament.

The absence of these top players has paved the way for Krzysztof Ratajski and Joe Cullen to take on seeded status, entering the competition from the second round. The two vacant spots in the draw will be filled by Ricky Evans and Richard Veenstra, the highest-ranked players on the reserve list.

The Austrian Darts Open 2024, the tenth edition of the tournament, will be held from April 26 to 28.
