Nathan Aspinall Shines on the Big Stage

In the realm of darts, few can match the prowess of Nathan Aspinall on the big stage. Last Thursday night in Rotterdam, the former UK Open and World Matchplay champion proved his mettle once again, emerging victorious on Night 12 of the current Premier League Darts campaign. The electric atmosphere created by the enthusiastic Dutch crowd only spurred Aspinall on, as he thrived in the high-pressure setting.

“I’m a big stage player,” the 31-year-old admitted to Sky Sports. “I hate going to Leicester or Milton Keynes for the Pro Tours, but you have to do them.”

Aspinall’s passion for the game is palpable, as he relishes the opportunity to showcase his skills in front of large, engaged audiences.

“That’s what you pick up the darts for the first time for, to play in these big arenas and big tournaments,” he continued.

With his world ranking of fourth, Aspinall is guaranteed a spot in the top televised tournaments this year. Although he has fallen in the Pro Tour rankings, the Stockport native remains unfazed.

“I don’t worry about draws anymore,” he stated. “It is what it is.”

Tomorrow, Aspinall will return to Premier League Darts action on Night 13 in Liverpool, where he will face off against Luke Humphries in the quarterfinals. Currently third in the standings, three points behind table-topping Humphries, Aspinall is determined to secure a spot in the playoffs at London’s O2 Arena.
